10 days - 9 nights

 

Day 1: Transfer from the airport.
You will be picked up at the airport in Bangkok with your name tag at EXIT 3 and accompanied to your hotel in Bangkok. The day is at leisure. Overnight stay in a first class hotel in Bangkok.


Day 2: Bangkok city tour - Ayutthaya - Pitsanulok.
During the city tour we take you through the fairytale temple complex of Wat Phra Kaew, the temple of the highly revered “Emerald Buddha”, as well as through the royal palace. The journey then takes us to Ayutthaya, which was the splendid capital of Siam for over 400 years. We visit the largest “Sitting Buddha in Thailand”, “Wat Yai Mongkol”, a temple complex popular with the population, as well as the temple ruins of the former royal palace. Continue via Nakhon Sawan to Pitsanulok. Overnight stay in a first class hotel.


Day 3: Pitsanulok - Chiang Rai.
In the morning we visit a temple complex in Pitsanulok that is important for the Thai population and has a gilded bronze statue from the Sukhothai period. In the complex itself we see Thai dancers, fortune tellers, food stalls and stalls. We drive on a good road through the mountain jungle up to the north to Chiang Rai. Overnight stay in Chiang Rai in a first class hotel.


Day 4: Chiang Rai - 'Golden Triangle' - Laos - Thaton.
After breakfast we visit the magnificent Wat Rong Khun (“White Temple”), where a contemporary Thai artist built his life’s work. We then drive to the “Golden Triangle”, where the Mae Sai and Mekong rivers form the border between Laos , Burma and Thailand form. Boat trip in the border triangle along Burma and Laos. We visit the Laotian river island of Koh Don Sao, where you can admire the handicrafts of the Laotians (no visa required for Laos). We will then visit an opium museum and your tour guide will tell you interesting facts about opium in the “Golden Triangle”. Drive through a fairytale landscape, past hill tribe villages, on the pass to Mae Salong. Once there, you think you are in a small Chinese village. During Mao's reign, an entire Chinese battalion fled from China via Burma to Mae Salong and settled there. The Mae Salong market offers a unique picture: women from the neighboring mountain villages, in their typical traditional costumes and with blood-red mouths chewing betel, offer their goods (fruit, vegetables, handmade souvenirs, etc.). Then we take a tour of the temple above the village, where an oversized Buddha figure watches over Thaton. Overnight stay in the romantic first class hotel Mae Kok River Resort, located on the river.

 

Day 05: Thaton - Pai.
Early in the morning we drive through a fantastic mountain landscape with many serpentines over the highest pass in Thailand to Pai. Dense jungle landscape, teak and pine forests, unique views of many valleys accompany us on this wonderful journey. On the way you will hike for about 20 minutes through the bamboo forest to the hot springs of Pong Duet. Overnight in Pai.


Day 06: Pai - Mae Hong Son.
We continue through the untouched nature of Pai to the picturesque mountain town of Mae Hong Son. In the middle of this place lies a dreamy small lake in which the playfully decorated Burmese temple complexes are reflected. For a long time, this area of northern Thailand was shielded by the dense mountain jungle. On the way on this trip we take a detour to the impressive and beautiful stalactite cave in Tam Lot, which can be reached in several passages on 2 levels and where a small river crosses the cave. Nearby we visit Lisu and Lahu villages. Then we come to a waterfall and visit the fish caves.
Overnight in Mae Hong Son.

Day 07: Mae Hong Son. Elephant safari and excursion to the 'Long Neck Karen'.
Today, the absolute highlight of our trip, will be adventurous, extremely interesting, certainly very beautiful and unforgettable. After breakfast we go on a 1 ½ hour elephant safari through the mountain wilderness. We then visit a Paduang village, better known as the “Long Neck Karen”. A friendly mountain tribe who adorn themselves with gold-colored rings on their necks and joints. This is followed by a beautiful trip on a bamboo raft on the Pai River. In the late afternoon we see the beautiful temple complexes in Mae Hong Son, built in the Burmese architectural style. Overnight in Mae Hong Son.






Day 08: Mae Hong Son – Mae Cham – Doi Inthanon - Chiang Mai.
Fantastically beautiful drive through dense mountain jungle from Mae Hong Son via Mae Cham and Doi Inthanon to Chiang Mai. In the evening we recommend a shopping spree through the well-known and popular Night Bazaar. Overnight stay in Chiang Mai in a first class hotel.


Day 09: Chiang Mai.
In the morning we visit the world-famous handicraft workshops in Bo Sang and San Khampeng with umbrella painting, silk and cotton weaving, silver processing and wood carving. We then recommend a shopping spree through the well-known and popular Night Bazaar. At the end of this very interesting tour we drive in the morning to Doi Suthep Temple (800 m above Chiang Mai). A jewel among Thai monasteries, this temple with a golden chedi offers magnificent panoramic views of Chiang Mai. Overnight stay in Chiang Mai in a first class hotel.


Day 10: Transfer to the airport.
